Frequently Asked Questions

How long will my service take?
This can vary depending on the level of work required. Sometimes we can turn around services in the same day. That may mean a 24 hour turnaround for collection and drop off.
A typical full service can be up to 2.5 – 3 hours but we will rarely offer a guaranteed time frame, we can however indicate a realistic timeframe and via our workshop management software you will get updates on progress right from receipt of your bike. We carry stock of all common parts and consumables but there are many variations/combinations of parts that it isn’t possible to carry every specific part. We have next day delivery available from all the main trade distributors and may sometimes need to order in parts.
Can I just drop off my bike without a booking?

By booking in we can manage our workshop workload, we don’t have a “shop” frontage but we are in the workshop daily of course. If you need an urgent repair then you can give us a call/WhatsApp/text and we will do our best to fit you in. Small repairs can often be fitted around our workshop schedule, it may not be worked on immediately but we will try our best to turnaround straightforward small repairs in the same day.

How does your workshop only business differ to a bike shop?
Our workshop is fully accredited, insured and equipped to provide repairs and servicing to all types of bicycles from junior bikes right up to the latest premium full carbon offering.
We focus on offering a full breadth of repairs that includes suspension servicing, hydraulics, wheel repairs. All to manufacturer specification.
We only differ to a traditional bike shop in that we don’t have a showroom full of new bikes and accessories. We are able to source all major brands across all categories of bike parts/accessories.
How often should I have my bike serviced?
This varies and comes down to several factors, how, where and how often its ridden but largely our advice is “prevention rather than cure”. If you rely on your bike or are committed to regular training a more frequent service will be better value to you long term, reduce your down time and may even cost you less.
If you are a regular commuter, do high mileage or the bike is hard used off road then you would look to have a full service every 6 months and possibly an interim service as the seasons change – especially if you want to reduce down time.
Where a bike is regularly maintained it may reduce the likelihood of larger bills and the incidences of failures.
Suspension service intervals are set out by the manufacturer and measured in hours, again our advice would be to stick to these to prevent further damage and increased bills.
How much will my service cost?
Our servicing levels are detailed on our site and within the booking portal. These are of course exclusive of parts.
We don’t carry out any work without the express authorisation of the customer, quotes are automated via our workshop management software and detailed for you to approve.
Using our experience we only quote/recommend work that we think is required at the time or that will offer best value to you in the long term.
Sometimes once into the service other issues can become apparent, again we would contact you before continuing.
You will never receive your bike back with an accompanying unexpected bill, all costs will be advised and authorised.
Some customers however, may like to pre-authorise work up to a certain value. This is a really convenient option for both parties and will be recorded on the booking when the bike is received.
Do I need to pay anything upfront?
Not routinely but, we are a small business. Where a repair is of a considerable value and/or requires specific parts we may request an advance payment. For custom work/upgrade we would request payment for the parts, please review our Terms & Conditions for full details of our restocking conditions
For collections/drop off we will often send a payment link for remote payment ahead of drop off in consideration of inconsistent signal for payment processing in person. Additionally we may also request payment for those that are unable to arrange collection of their bike in a few days of work being completed. We will accommodate timeframes as much as we can, its one of the benefits of not being bound by shop opening hours but it’s difficult to hold onto bikes for extended periods.
Do I have to book online?

Its more convenient to do so but by all means get in touch with us during normal workshop hours and we will try to help. We will still enter you into our workshop management software but if you prefer communicating over the phone we can do that.
